Co-op Training App Shortlisted for Big Chip Awards 2017

We’re delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for two categories in the Big Chip Awards 2017. Our work with the Co-op on their store training app has been shortlisted for Best User Experience and Most Innovative Application of Technology. The Big Chip Awards dinner will be held at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel on 15th June. Click here to buy your ticket.

Co-op Training App

How do you provide consistent training for every new employee across over 7000 Co-op stores in the UK? Our solution, in collaboration with Creative Concern, is to create a seriously immersive smartphone app. A real person is recorded taking the new member of staff through store tours, customer service, health and safety regulations and quizzing the new employee on their learnings along the way. Employees can access at any time, from anywhere, with scores and time logged.
co-op VR App

Nothing can ever replace getting real on-the-job experience, but Virtual Reality really is the next best thing. To keep the store in tip top condition, all Co-op staff members need to have a proactive approach to resolving any issues. This VR application allows new staff to take home a set of activities that encourages them to look around and familiarise themselves with the store. This creates a level of situational awareness that is very valuable for new employees.

The app runs with Google Cardboard on an employee’s own smartphone, so that they can learn at their own pace. The application is available on both Android phones and iPhones for use with Google Cardboard. It will also run on Samsung Gear VR.

The Big Chip awards will be judged by a distinguished panel of experts, and chaired by Professor Malcolm Garrett RDI. We’re incredibly proud of our work on this project, and wish all the shortlisted entries the best of luck on the night.Google Cardboard C+L
